Yamdruk lake trekking is one of the stunning and beautiful treks in Tibet that combines a cultural tour of Lhasa, Nam Tso Lake, Palchoe monastery in Gyangtse, Tashi Lhunpo monastery in Shigatse as well as an easy trek around part of Yamdrok Lake from Langthang Dewachen to Kangru, one of the most remote monasteries in Tibet. Yamdrok Lake, to the south of Lhasa at the altitude of (4,488m), is one of the four biggest holy lakes in Tibet. This lake has eleven arms and is surrounded by villages, living off both farming and some livestock, including yaks. Yamdruk lake trek can start from both cities either from Kathmandu or Lhasa.
Yamdruk Lake Trekking – itinerary
Day 01: Arrive at Gonggor airport (Lhasa) 3650m, meet Alpine Eco Trek's guide and transfer to Lhasa city.
Day 02: Am visit Potala Palace and pm Jokang temple and ancient Barkhor market.
Day 03: Am visit Drepung monastery and Sera monastery.
Day 04: Drive to Namtso Lake (4-5hrs drive/4718m).
Day 05: Drive back to Lhasa.
Day 06: Drive from Lhasa to Lang Thang Dewa Chen (3hrs/3900m)
Day 07: Trek to Lhema Chen (4600m/3-5hrs).
Day 08: Trek to Kangru monastery (4400m) via pass called Jeshul la (4900m/5hrs).
Day 09: Trek across the Kangru village - Kangmar vilagea and then to Tsayul village.
Day 10: Drive to Gyagtse along the lake Yamdrok via many beautiful villages
Day 11: Am visit Palchoe monastery and Kubum Pagoda stupa and then drive to Shigatse
Day 12: Am visit Tashi Lhunpo monastery and pm Old market of Shigatse.
Day 13: Drive to Lhasa along the Bharmaputra River (4-5hrs drive).
Day 14: Drive to Airport, fly to Kathmandu or mainland china.
