After two days train journey through the Tibetan highlands you will arrive in Lhasa 'the roof of the world'. Encounter cultural treasures and explore sacred Buddhist monasteries on this breathtaking three-week adventure. Hike Kailash, Asia's most sacred mountain. Consider adding a night at the base camp of Mt Everest and wake up to spectacular views. Your trip will end at Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal.
Kailash and Everest Adventure via Beijing – itinerary
Day 1-2 Train journey from Beijing to Lhasa:
Board the train for Lhasa and watch the scenery completely change as you climb onto the Tibetan Plateau.
Day 3-4 Lhasa sightseeing:
Orientations walk around Barkhor square, Jokhang Temple, Potala Palace. Options to watch monk debate in Sera Monastery.
Day 5 Drive to Shigatse:
Visit Pelkor Chode Monastery, Yamdrok Tso and Tashilunpo Monastery
Day 6 Drive to Everest Base Camp:
Drive to Everest Base Camp, Hike to base camp and visit world's highest monastery.
Day 7 Saga: Drive to Saga, on the way visit Sakya Gompa.
Days 8-9 Saga to Darchen:
Follow the road west across grasslands and passes culminating in the first spectacular view of Kailash & Manasarovar.
Days 10-11 Kailash and Lake Manasarovar:
Embark on the toughest part of our journey, the 2.5 day Kailash kora or hike. The highest pass is 5630m. The distinctive snow-topped pyramid of Kailash stands apart and distinct from those around it, dominating the landscape.
Days 12-13 Darchen to Saga:
Crossing the grasslands, we come back down south to Saga.
Day 14 Nyalam:
Cross one of the most spectacular mountain passes, topped with prayer flags and wind-driven prayer wheels. You will truly feel like you are on top of the world.
Day 15 Kathmandu:
Arrive in Kathmandu and free to explore the city.
Note: If the road condition at boarder is not in our favor, on the day 14 we can drive to Lhasa instead Nyalam.
Notice: Participants of the trip must keep in mind that this is an adventure journey that takes you into one of the remotest corner of the Tibetan plateau where many unexpected and unpleasant events may contribute to the need for a change in the itinerary. Depending on the prevailing situation, the itinerary can be modified to some extent after consulting with your guide. However, the date of tour conclusion should always coincide with the original plan.
