Helambu Circuit trekking Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m).

Day 02: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing.

Day 03: Drive to Sundarijal (1,350m), trek to Chisopani (2,140m), one hour drive, 4 hours walkking.

Day 04: Trek from Chisopani to Gul Bhanjyang (2,140m), 5 to 6 hours walking.

Day 05: Trek from Gul Bhanjyang to Tharepati (3,600m), 5 to 6 hours walking.

Day 06: Trek from Tharepati to Melamchi Gaon (2,640m), 5 to 6 hours walking.

Day 07: Trek from Melamchi gaon to Tarkeghyang (2,560m), 5 to 6 hours walking.

Day 08: Trek from Tarkeghyang trekking to Sermathang (2,621m), 5 to 6 hours walking.

Day 9: Trek from Shermathang to Melamchi Bazaar), drive to Kathmandu, 2 hrs walk, 5 hours drive.

Day 10: Free day in Kathmandu.

Day 10: Final Departure. 

  • Day 01 Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m):

    Upon your arrival at Kathmandu airport, one of our trek leaders will greets you and transfer to hotel. Rest of the time will be free for refreshment. In the evening join the welcome dinner at a typical Nepali restaurant. Overnight at hotel.

  • Day 02 Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing:

    After breakfast, meet your tour guide in the lobby and start a guided tour including Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Monkey Temple, Pashupatinath Temple and Baudhanath Stupa. In the evening, we organize a small meeting to introduce your trekking crew and settle the outstanding balances. Overnight at hotel.

  • Day 03 Drive to Sundarijal (1,350m), trek to Chisopani (2,140m), one hour drive, 4 hours walkking:

    After breakfast, an hour scenic drive from Kathmandu takes us to trek start point Sundarijal, from here, the trail climb up besides the water pipes which supplies Kathmandu drinking water, the trail will enter through the Shivapuri Watershed and Wildlife Reserve. The trail continues uphill through the forest to meet the Mulkharka Villages with the inhabitants of Tamanag people. The trail continues with climbing on the forest of rhododendron and oaks after pass the Borlang Bhanjyang trail goes downhill to Chisopani (2140m), The mountain views are excellent from here, we can see the views of Annapurna to Everest, overnight at lodge.

  • Day 04 Trek from Chisopani to Gul Bhanjyang (2,140m), 5 to 6 hours walking:

    The trails runs out of the villages and continues level among pine plantation before arrive Pati Bhanjyang a lovely small village. From here the trail goes through small chortens, fields and forest mostly up and down hill before arriving Gul Bhanjyang (2140m), overnight at a lodge.

  • Day 05 Trek from Gul Bhanjyang to Tharepati (3,600m), 5 to 6 hours walking:

    Today‚Äôs trail steady climbs through prickly leaved oak forest with excellent views of the mountains and the Helambu valley. Following a ridge line, the trail continues via lightly populated forest to Magen Goth from where the view of Langtang and Gosaikund peak is stunning, Above Magen Goth the trails climbs steeply through dense pine forest passing several chortens and ruined huts. When we arrived at Tharepati, rise early for excellent close up views of Gosainkunda and surrounding high mountains. Overnight at a lodge.

  • Day 06 Trek from Tharepati to Melamchi Gaon (2,640m), 5 to 6 hours walking:

    We take a short and steep descent through mixed fir and rhododendron forest rich with bird life. Crashing waterfalls sound from the rocky gullies below as we approach Melamchi Gaon. Overnight at a lodge.

  • Day 07 Trek from Melamchi gaon to Tarkeghyang (2,560m), 5 to 6 hours walking:

    The trail descends steeply to the valley floor, where we can have a well earned dip in the crystal- clear river before completing the short and mild ascent up the other side of the valley. Tarkeghyang boasts an 18th century Gompa with huge brass prayer wheel. Overnight at a lodge.

  • Day 08 Trek from Tarkeghyang trekking to Sermathang (2,621m), 5 to 6 hours walking:

    A flat pleasant walk through the beautiful forest takes us to Shermathang This is an entering Sherpa village and they will be happy to introduce themselves that they are different from the Sherpa of Khumbu(Everest region) In the clear day the villages provide good views of Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Gosainkunda and Rolwaling even Everest too in a distance. Overnight at a lodge.

  • Day 09 Trek from Shermathang to Melamchi Bazaar), drive to Kathmandu, 2 hrs walk, 5 hours drive:

    Today the trail gradually descends all the way to Melamchi Pul Bazaar through meadows and cultivated fields. On the way, we come across several old villages. With the spectacular Mountain View, we will get to interact with local and friendly people. Drive back to Kathmandu by bus or private vehicle. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

  • Day 10 Free day in Kathmandu:

    Breakfast will be at hotel, this is your free day in Kathmandu, and you would be doing some final shopping and in the evening join the farewell dinner, enjoy your meal and drink at a typical Nepali restaurant with your trekking crew. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.
