The Gosainkunda Lake with Helambu trek is a perfect choice for those trekkers who wish to explore the sheer beauty of Nepali nature, discover traditional and fascinating villages and see the lush rhododendron forests. Situated just north of Kathmandu, this trek is close to the capital and easily accessible without a flight. This is one of the most magnificent treks in Langtang and Helambu region.

This amazingly beautiful trek through Gosainkunda with Helambu begins with a scenic eight to nine-hour drive from Kathmandu. We spend our first night in a mountain lodge in Dhunche from where our trek truly begins. We begin following a very pleasant trail, which takes us through terraced farmlands, traditional Tamang villages, lush and full rhododendron forests, and gorgeous alpine pastures. We will encounter the world-famous Gosainkunda Lake, which provides eye-catching views of the snowy peaks and tranquil lake. It is said that if we are to take a dip into the Gosainkunda Lake, skin diseases and knowingly committed sins will be erased.

After crossing the stunning Laurebina la Pass (4,600m), the Gosainkunda with Helambu trek enters to the Helambu region. This is a fascinating trekking area that will immerse you into the unique Sherpa culture. The region also provides awe-inspiring mountain peaks. Taking us through lush forests, terrace farming villages, and a picturesque trail that ends near Kathmandu valley, this trek is one the most breathtaking treks in the Langtang and Helambu region.

Day 1:Arrival at Kathmandu airport (1,350m):

Upon your arrival at Kathmandu airport, one of our trek leaders will greet you and transfer to hotel. Free for rest and refreshment, evening join the welcome dinner at a typical restaurant with live culture show. Overnight at hotel.

After breakfast, meet your tour guide in the lobby and start a guided tour including Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Monkey Temple, Pashupatinath Temple and Baudhanath Stupa. In the evening, we organize a small meeting to introduce your trekking crew and settle the outstanding balances. Overnight at hotel.

After early breakfast, we take a scenic drive which will takes about 8 to 9 hours local bus or can drive by a private Land cruiser. Overnight stay at a mountain lodge in Dhunche from where we will have a majestic mountains view including Ganesh Himal, few peaks of Langtang range and the Tibetan peaks. Overnight at a lodge.

After breakfast, we start our trek from Dhunche to Sing Gompa, walking on a pleasant trail enjoying the beautiful villages and local landscapes we reach Sing Gompa. Overnight at a lodge.

The trail to Lauribina Yak is steep up and continues for three hours. Then the trail becomes much narrow and misty as well as change in vegetation too as the green vegetation becomes much deserted and rocky. We reach Gosainkunda Lake where we will spend our overnight at a lodge.

After exploring around at Gosainkunda and holy dip into the Lake, we set for another day's walk. The walk goes through a steep trail for three hours and crosses an amazing Lauribina La pass at 4600m and the trail is too rocky. After the pass the trail becomes to descend and the slope continues for about three hours and reaches to Ghopte. Overnight at a lodge.

The trail from Ghopte to Tharepati continues through the forest of pine and juniper about 4 hour's slope up to Thadepati. Overnight at a lodge.

From Tharepanti, a short and steep descent through mixed fir and rhododendron forest rich with bird life. Crashing waterfalls sound from the rocky gullies below as we approach Melamchi Gaon. Overnight at a lodge.

The trail descends steeply to the valley floor, where we can have a well earned dip in the crystal- clear river before completing the short and mild ascent up the other side of the valley. Tarkegyang boasts an 18th century Gompa with huge brass prayer wheel. Overnight at a lodge.

A flat pleasant trail to Shermathang, this is an interesting Sherpa village and they will be happy to introduce themselves that they are different from the Sherpa of Khumbu (Everest region) In the clear day the villages provide good views of Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Gosainkunda and Rolwaling, even Everest also in a distance. Overnight at a lodge.

Today the trail gradually descends all the way to Melamchi Pul Bazaar through meadows and cultivated fields. On the way, we come across several old villages. With the spectacular Mountain View, we will get to interact with local and friendly people. Drive back to Kathmandu by bus or private vehicle. Overnight at hotel.

Breakfast will be at hotel, today is a free day for shopping and stroll around. In the evening, join the farewell dinner at a typical Nepali restaurant and celebrate the trek with your trekking crew. Overnight at hotel.

    This is a teahouse trek, each and every stop provides the decent guesthouses and mountain lodges.     How can I book Gosainkunda with the Helambu trek?

    Once you confirmed the trip, we need a photocopy of your passport and a 20% down payment of the total price for advance flight tickets and hotel booking and permit process.

    Can I do Gosainkunda with the Helambu trek?

    This trek is suitable for any walker looking for something little adventure and a mountain trek with stunning views of Gosainkunda and Helambu Himalayas. It does not require that you have any previous trekking or mountaineering experience. Although, daily jugging or walking exercise is useful and you need to be in the good physical condition and able to walk for 5-6 hours daily.

    When should I come to Gosainkunda with the Helambu trek?

    This trek is good for all seasons so any months from Jan to Dec are the best time to do this trek. Although, Feb, March, April, May and September, October, November and also December are the very best months to do a trek in this area.

    Do I need to stay in Katmandu?

    Kathmandu valley, one of the historical cities as well as the capital of Nepal, at least, you need to spend two nights in Kathmandu and before and after your trip. In our program, we are providing you the standard accommodation in Kathmandu on a bed and breakfast basis.

    Can I join with group?

    Yes, you can join the group, we guarantee a series of fixed group departure dates for Gosainkunda with the Helambu trek. We can arrange a small group trekking trip to suit your requirements. Please contact us for group departure dates.

    Do I need to join with group?

    It is not necessary that you need to follow our fixed group departure dates, because a private trip departs every day upon your request which is best suited to couples, families and small groups of friends. We are happy to organize your holiday according to your selection of the starting date.

    What kind of meals I can have during the trip?

    All Meals on a full board basis will be provided during the trekking. Freshly cooked food is served at all times (western, continental and Nepali meals are available in all places). Three meals a day will be provided.

    Do I have a pre-departure meeting?

    Yes, at first, our staff will receive you at the airport and transfer to the hotel and our tour leader will brief you regarding the trip. The briefing will cover the itinerary and introduce your trek Leader.

    Can I charge camera batteries along the trek?

    Yes, in most places, you can charge batteries along the trek (per hour USD 2-3 for charging).

    Is someone going to meet me at the airport? Are transfers included?

    Definitely, one of our guides will come to the airport to pick you up. We will be displaying a placard of the company with your name on it. Airport transfer is included.
