10 Days Everest View Trekking Overview

Everest view trek is one of the most spectacular and popular short and easy hiking tours in the Everest (aka Khumbu) region. This marvelous trek starts and ends in the ancient city of Kathmandu.

Everest View Trek features a beautiful collection of sky-touching silver mountains, rich flora, and fauna while in the meantime encountering the spiritually prosperous Sherpa land.

Just as its name portrays, the Everest view hiking tour is all about witnessing the panoramic view of the Himalayan giants including the world-famous Mount Everest.

It is a short and easy trip that is creatively designed to explore Everest’s beauty and its unique culture, people, and mountain vistas in the shortest period of time.

If you are short on time or if you are unsure about committing to a long trek, whatever the reason might be for you to stop yourself, 10 days Everest view tour is a perfect trek option for you.

This trek does not demand any type of physical fitness or previous experience, hence you get a plus point here as well. Even though this is a short trek, you will still get to trek to the most mesmerizing and popular places in the Everest Region including Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Lhotse, and Mt. Kongde-Ri, and Mt. Kusum Kanguru.

The very first encounter of your journey will be the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu. This ancient exotic city holds a lot of history, culture, traditions, markets, and handicrafts.

We begin our trek from a short yet beautiful scenic flight to Lukla (2860 m). After a half-hour flight to Lukla, passing through the stunning village, we make our way towards the heart of the Solu- Khumbu Region, Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site that is home to rare flora and fauna.

On our way to Namche Bazaar (3445m), the land of Sherpas, we pass through beautiful and dense pine forests, rhododendron flowers, and wildlife abundance. We spend a day in Namche in order to get acclimatized to higher altitudes.

After a day at Namche, the trek continues passing through the village of Tengboche (3860 m), home to the holiest and highest Buddhist monastery in the world. The place is famous for photographers who get an exceptional shot of the stunning view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Ama Dablam, and its neighboring peaks.

The concluding days of the short Everest view trekking package will be spent in the wonderful and scenic villages of Khunde (3840 m) and Khumjung where we will have an opportunity to interact with the local Sherpa people and participate in their remarkable traditional lifestyle. We then return back to Lukla from the same trail, enjoying the last views of the breathtaking Himalayan ranges and Everest.

The journey, all in all, is one amazing experience in the Himalayas in a very limited time. The trekkers get to explore the Everest Region and the rural lifestyle of its people. The most favorable season to go for the Everest view trekking holiday is between mid-September to mid-December and between March to May.

Trek Difficulty

This incredible trek in Nepal is absolutely not difficult. As a short trek in Nepal, Alpine Eco Trek recommends this trek for families with kids and senior citizens. With a few steep climbs and adventurous river crossings, even novice trekkers can fully enjoy this amazing short trek in Nepal. We do take precautions against Acute Mountain Sickness and make sure to trek at everyone’s pace.

Fitness required for this Trek

As the trek is short and easy, we are trekking in the Himalayas, and having a good fitness level will only improve your experience during the Everest View walking tour. It is advised to practice some stamina training and perhaps higher altitude exercises. This can be done by joining a gym or home fitness, morning or evening runs and short hikes uphill.

Accommodations during Everest View Trek

Every trekking experience is also graded on how your overnight stay is during the trek. As for our accommodation during the trek with Alpine Eco Trek, we stay two days in Kathmandu the capital of Nepal and during the trek we overnight in the local guesthouses.

In Kathmandu:

During your stay in Kathmandu, Thamel has some of the best options. Also called Backpacker’s Alley this amazing area has access to countless trekking equipment and handicraft shops, cozy restaurants and comfortable hotels. With options from low-budget lodges to even five-star category resorts, we are sure to book you the best rooms available as per your budget.

During the Trek:

Trekking in the Everest region of Nepal doesn’t mean going on a luxury trip. We are trekking in remote areas without road access and overnight at the local guesthouses. This provides sustainability to the various towns and helps to further improve the trekking trails in the Everest region.

The guesthouses during the Everest View trek are comfortable as well as facilitated with attached bathrooms, shower facilities, neat and clean bed sheets, pillow covers, and well-managed beds with warm blankets and internet WIFI connections facilities. Most activity goes on in the dining hall wherein the cold-season heaters are placed.

Food during Everest View Trek

While doing the trek some incredible meals can be tasted in the local guest houses. As we head towards Namche Bazaar the Sherpa culture can be seen in the many delicious dishes. During the trekking part of this package, we do include an All-In plan with breakfast and dinner served at the guesthouse and lunch packed for on the way. In Kathmandu, we book a Bed and Breakfast plan so you can enjoy the various restaurants and have a different experience.

We start our amazing trek with a 35-minute scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. From here we follow a gentle climb up the mountainside on the left bank of the Dudh Koshi river. Nupla (5,885m) can be seen in the distance on the opposite bank, is a peak atop the Kongde Ridge. We descend a mountainside path that merges into our route to Everest, with views to a valley to our right and at its far end, Kusum Kangaru (6,367m.). We continue along a small path with many climbs and descents following the left bank of Dudh Koshi to Phakding. Stay overnight at the lodge.

The trail starts through a level path along the right bank. We cross a stream and climb the terraced hill from the Dudh Koshi route, to arrive at Bengar. The trail now climbs from the river bed on the left bank into the mountain, through a forest to Chumoa. We continue along a path with many ups and downs; cross a stream, and pass by the tiny village of Monjo. Now, we descend the path of stone steps and return to the right bank over a wooden bridge. After our departure from Jorsale, we enter a forested mountainside. We move on following a short walk along the riverbed of this V-shaped valley where the river forks - the right is the Dudh Koshi and the left is the Bhote Kosi that leads to Nampa La. After a short distance along the Bhote Koshi, we begin the steep ascent to Namche Bazaar. As the mountain path zigzags uphill, we will emerge at a ridge top rest area that offers excellent views of Everest (8,848m) and Lhotse (8,516m.) The climb eases somewhat and Namche Bazaar appears ahead as we travel along the path surrounded by pines. Namche Bazaar (3,440m) is surrounded on three sides by mountain ranges and opens out only where it faces the Bhote Koshi. Stay overnight at the lodge.

For the acclimatization, we walk up to Khunde Hospital which was set up by Sir Edmund Hillary, and an hour walk up to the Sangboche (3800m) where Everest View Hotel is situated above Namche for the outstanding view of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kusum Kangaru. There are also good views from the National Park Centre and Museum just above the town. This museum exhibits Sherpa culture. Stay overnight at the lodge.

As we leave the village for a climb to the top of a ridge and level mountain path we get to view an excellent panorama of Thamserku, Kantega, and Kusum Kangaru. After a gentle descent, the mountain path ends; we will come to the fork leading to Gokyo. It is a long climb to Tengboche; the first half is especially steep. As we climb through the forested zone, the incline eases and a splendid view appears. We continue climbing the mountainside diagonally until we come to the stone gate built by lamas which mark your entry into Tengboche (3,860m). We may use the large plateau in front of the splendid monastery as your campsite. There are a lodge and hotel managed by the National Park Service. Tengboche is an important lookout point on this trek and the sunset on Everest and Ama Dablam is especially beautiful. Stay overnight at the lodge.

Trip to see Mount Everest

We have booked the Everest View Trek Program. Our trip took place from 22nd October till 1st November, but if we could we would extend our trip for longer. Upon arrival, I was feeling a bit nervous as we did not know what to expect from the trip and it was our first time in Nepal. When we landed in Kathmandu, Ram met us at the airport with a very welcome feeling, and it gave us more conferences. The airport felt so busy but Ram recognized us within seconds, felt like we know each other from before. The first day we spend in Kathmandu, exploring the culture and capital its self. Ram gave us advises where to go, what to see and answered all our questions. Very helpful. The second day we meant to get a domestic flight to Lukla, but due to bad weather, we had to wait one day at the airport, as no flight would flight to mountains. On a second day, we have eventually taken off to Lukla by helicopter and only thanks to Ram as he managed to secure us a place. So we have been very thankful to him. Our guide Sadu, unfortunately, had to stay at the airport and waiting for the next plane, as there was no space available in a helicopter. Sadu is a very positive and energized person, we have met him latter in mountains.
