7 Days Mardi Himal Trekking Overview

7 Days Mardi Himal Trekking is a trekking trail in the Annapurna region that has been recently introduced to adventurers and trek enthusiasts. Despite being a remote and less traversed route, it is definitely a route that is worth stepping foot on. Mardi Himal hiking tour begins from the lake city of Pokhara and is suitable for those trekkers who wish to walk through isolated peaceful and pleasant trails.

Mardi Himal is a pristine trek in the Annapurna region that rewards us with exquisite views of the mountain sceneries, the exotic traditional villages, infinite and diverse forms of culture, and tempting views of rapidly flowing rivers. The emphasis of this trek is on the forests and the wilderness of the trails that telecast the views of the mountains.

The short trek of Mardi Himal leads you through beautiful and moderately modern cities, tranquil villages, picturesque terrace farmlands, whitewater rivers, crystal clear waterfalls, flourishing forests, and alpine hamlets to the ultimate destination, the high viewpoint of Mardi Himal from where we are rewarded by the stunning views of the high and the majestic Himalayas including DhaulagiriFishtail and Annapurna ranges.

Mardi Himal trek is a completely non-touristic trekking destination in the Annapurna region, hence you need not worry about crowds of trekkers. Most of the people that you will be coming across will be the inquisitive locals and the playful children of the area itself.

We organize this trek as a tea-house trek. Through the trek, there are basic and Eco-friendly guest houses to accommodate you. Another fun fact is that the guest houses are affordable as well.

Amazing Mardi Himal is getting very popular among peace lovers, come to book your trek with us and get a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Best time for Mardi Himal Trek

Trekking in Nepal is one of the top activities in the country and many wonder when to trek? Here we will break down the best trekking seasons in Nepal for our Annapurna Mardi Himal tour from the best to worst.

The autumn season, stretching from the middle of September until late November is undoubtedly the best time to trek, also considered Nepal’s high season for trekking.

The spring season, starting from March until May would be the second-best season for trekking in Nepal.
Nepal’s hot pre-monsoon season, May to June is when the whole valley blooms with life and seeing the Himalayan flowers and rhododendron flowers is really something.

In the winter season, from December to February, it’s also possible to do the trek, but some of the passes may be closed due to snowfall and the weather can get really cold.

The monsoon season, June to mid-September would be the least ideal time to go trekking, heavy rainfalls, leeches, and mosquitos are what you get during this time. Although it’s still possible to go trekking to Mardi Himal we do recommend wearing long trousers and bringing leech and mosquito repellent.

How fit should I be for 7 Days Mardi Himal Trek?

As many trekkers wonder how fit should I be for this trek, we thought it was best to give some expert advice in this segment. As the trek is considered a short trek in Nepal you do not require a Superman fitness level, but we are trekking in the Himalayas which is at a high elevation… That’s why we do recommend considering seeing your doctor for a physical check-up before departing on your journey to Nepal. You need to estimate about 4 to 7 hours of daily trekking moving up at a slow pace.

For the most part of the Mardi Himal walking route consists of well-made trails but near Base Camp, there is some rocky terrain to overcome. There is also the matter of altitude sickness to consider, while there is a low chance of getting AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) novice trekkers might want to practice hiking on hilly terrain before undertaking the Mardi Himal hike.

Accommodation during the trek to Mardi Himal Base Camp

Accommodation during the Mardi Himal holidays varies from hotels to guest houses, while our standard package does not include accommodation in Kathmandu and Pokhara this can easily be booked online or we can arrange it for you upon request. With the option of luxury hotel resorts to backpacker hostels, the choice is yours. We do ask you to pay attention to your booking time as in the high season space availability will be limited and it’s always better to book a room earlier during the high season.

During the actual trek, Alpine Eco Trek arranges simple but clean guesthouses on a twin-sharing basis full board (incl. breakfast, lunch, dinner, and 3 cups of coffee or tea). These guesthouses are all equipped with a WIFI internet connection, attached bathrooms with showers, and a well-managed bed with clean bed sheets and pillow covers. There will also be warm blankets available. Although these guesthouses are hygienic and clean we do recommend bringing a sleeping bag for extra hygiene.

Food during Mardi Himal Trek

For food during the trek breakfast, lunch and dinner are included during the trekking times and our stays at the guesthouses. Breakfast consists of either hot porridge, muesli, or Tibetan bread served with an omelet or boiled egg.  For lunch, we stop at a local tea-house on the way and enjoy a hot meal of Nepali rice and lentil soup with vegetables and spicy pickles known traditionally as Nepali dhal bhat.  In the evening after checking in at our overnight guesthouse dinner can be chosen from the menu and is usually either Nepali Dhal Bhat, Nepali dumplings known as momo’s a true delicacy across Nepal, mixed noodles, pasta, or pizza. While meat items are also available we do ask you to check with our trekking guide as preservation facilities are limited in the higher regions and we can’t be sure if it’s safe to eat.

Drinking Water in Mardi Himal Trek

Drinking water during the Mardi Himal is easy to get, and while most tea-houses offer bottled water for purchase we do strongly recommend against it as those plastic bottles destroy the environment and mostly end up being burned or dumped in an out-of-sight landfill. We advise all our trekkers to bring their own drinking bottles and make use of purification methods such as traditional water purification tablets or UV handheld devices such as a Steripen. There are other options available in the market to purify water on the green way. But make sure to research their performance under freezing conditions.

Mardi Himal Trekking a great Experience

Kudos to Alpine Eco Trek for making our trekking experience to Mardi Himal so awesome and unforgettable. Special thanks to our guide Sarjan Thade. We highly recommend Alpine Eco Trek and Sarjan. He will be our guide on our next trip as well. Sarjan had great knowledge about the trekking route, terrain, mountains, birds and the vegetation. He knew almost all the places and people along the route. We never had to worry about a thing. Sarjan took care of the lodge, food and jeep made sure we had a lot of pictures, was always friendly, flexible and even danced and sang with us. Also, our experience with Alpine Eco Trek was smooth. Ram, the owner of this company is extremely friendly and did his best to serve us. All in all, they are a very professional and service orientated team of Alpine Eco is definitely recommendable to everyone planning Mardi Himal trek.

The gorgeous Mardi Himal Trek with Alpine Eco Trek

I was a bit skeptical to trust just anyone to plan my trip to the beautiful Mardi Himal last spring. Meeting Ram Adhikari at Alpine Eco Trek was a lot of help at this time. He was extremely thoughtful and assisted me throughout the whole trip. I got to choose where to stay and also could customize the itinerary. I was also provided information about the whole trip beforehand with a detailed itinerary. This was very helpful on my trip. I will never forget my trip to the gorgeous Mardi Himal with Alpine Eco Trek for the rest of my life.
