We organize Chulu East peak climbing trip which rise above the dry and arid Manang valley of Nepal which lies in the rain shadow of the massive Annapurna Himalayas. We begin our approach by following the Marsyandgi Khola through a variety of landscapes and cultures. From the subtropical land of the Gurung people to the high Tibetan like region of the Manang people. Our route up Pisang Peak rises in an elegant are of the south west face to a steep, icy ridge. The route is not technically difficult but demands solid snow climbing skills and excellent physical conditioning. Following our ascent of Pisang we trek further up valley to the district head quarters of Manang. A long day takes us to base camp. After a rest day we precede to high camp on a high col. Our route to the summit follows the exposed north east ridge on snow and ice with outstanding views of the Annapurna and Manaslu to the East. A quick descent takes us back to Ogre where we take a flight to Pokhara then to Kathmandu.
Chulu east peak climbing combines all the best elements of a Himalayan expedition. While the trip is strenuous and demands that each participant be well versed in alpine snow climbing skills, it is an excellent way to experience the culture of Nepal and ascend two Himalayan peaks in the safest possible way.
