This trek is also known as Kathmandu Valley Rim Trekking is a less crowded trekking destination around the Kathmandu valley. The valley rim lies between 1800m and 2800m and in spring offers early flowering rhododendrons. In autumn and winter, there are wonderful mountain vistas, which can, from certain viewpoints, stretch from Everest in the east to Annapurna in the west. When the trek reaches Nagarkot it offers a spectacular Mountain View as well as a panoramic view of Kathmandu valley. Nagarkot is one of the best spots to view Mount Everest as well as other snow-topped peaks of the Himalayan range of eastern Nepal.

This trek can be combined with the 2 night 3 days Jungle Safari in Chitwan National Park where you will track the rare Royal Bengal tiger, one-horned rhinoceroses, slot bear, crocodile and many more other species of birds and animals, which will enchant as you explore this pristine Jungle area.

Day 01:Arrive at the Kathmandu International airport (TIA), Nepal

Upon your arrival at the TIA airport, one of our trek leaders from our company Alpine Eco Trek will meet you and greet you at the airport and escort you to the hotel and help you check into your designated hotel. In the evening, one of our team leaders will come to meet you to brief you about the daily activities of your journey. Overnight at the hotel.

After breakfast, join a full day of sightseeing in Kathmandu valley includes the Hindu temple complex at Pashupatinath (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) & the biggest Buddhist Stupa at Boudhanath. Also visit Monkey Temple the Swyambhunath (2000 years old temple). Overnight at hotel.

After breakfast, we drive by a private vehicle to Sundarijal. From here the trek starts, the trail climbs steeply past Tamang villages and on through rhododendron forest to Chisopani. Excellent views over the whole Himalayan range from Manaslu, Ganesh Himal to Everest. Mid hill mountains and valley of Helambu in a clear day. Overnight at guest house.

Today we hike for about 6 to 7 hours. Walk between the village and forest of Shivapuri, continue our journey to Nagarkot 2100m above the sea- level. This spot provides an excellent view of the sunset; sunrise and Mount Everest can be seen on a clear day including the other 12 peaks. Overnight at the hotel.

We will awake early to watch the spectacular dawn. The first rays of the sun firing the peaks a lightest red slowly lighting up the Himalayas from Everest range in the Far East of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri in the West. After breakfast, 6 hours trek down to Dhulikhel village. Overnight at hotel.

Chisapani Village is situated at an elevation of 2200 meters.     Chisapani Nagarkot trek package includes 3 nights’ accommodation in Kathmandu in a standard hotel with breakfast.     During the Chisapani Nagarkot hike, we will provide the best available lodges on full board (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). On the first day of our hike, we will stay in a beautiful village called Chisapani. This village has limited lodges and guesthouses, with basic facilities including cozy rooms with attached bathrooms, Internet Wi-Fi, comfortable beds with neat and clean bedsheets and warm blankets.  The lodge’s restaurant serves authentic and delicious meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). The next day, we will hike from Chisapani village to Nagarkot village, there are many nice and luxury hotels, lodges and guesthouses in Nagarkot village. We will provide one of the best lodges on the full board. On the day third, we will hike from Nagarkot to Dhulikhel, another beautiful and amazing hill station with a wide range of hotels, resorts, and guesthouses. We will provide one of the best guesthouses on the full board. On the day forth of our hike, we will hike from Dhulikhel to Namo Buddha and conclude the hike with two hours’ drive to Kathmandu.   

    How about Food and Drinks? Where do I buy drinking water? 

    In Kathmandu, the trek package includes breakfast, tea/coffee and 2 bottles of mineral water a day. You can enjoy every day’s breakfast at any time from 6:30 AM to 10 AM at our hotel. During the Chisapani Nagarkot Trekking Tour, the hiking package includes meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) and lodge accommodations. Meals during the hike will be mostly the authentic Nepalese dishes like rice, curry, lentil, vegetable, spicy free pickles, curd, plain chapatti and etc. Other cuisines like continental, Tibetan and Indian are also available. These meals will be served as per the menu of the lodge. Besides that, you can buy bars, bread, cookies, and hot chocolates, extra on the trail on your own. In Kathmandu, we will offer a farewell dinner at the end of the trip to celebrate the grand success of your great journey.

    Regarding the drinking water, during the trek, drinking water can be easily found everywhere, every two to three hours you can buy pure and safe drinking water from the local teashops. Also, you can get hot water from the lodge and fill in your bottle every time it gets empty. So, do carry a reusable water bottle with yourself. We request you not to buy mineral water bottles (plastic) on the way as it will help in preserving the nature of this beautiful region. Moreover, you can also carry water purifier tablets or SteriPen with you to purify the water. 

    Can I do Chiapani Nagarkot trek? 

    Chisapani Nagarkot hiking tour is a short and easy hike around the Kathmandu valley. We have organized for valley Rim trek for people of varied age differences. Even though it is a short and easy trek, you are required to be in good shape and with professional guidance by our crew, anyone with reasonably fit health will be able to enjoy the Chisapani Nagarkot tour. Previous trekking or hiking experience is not required for this trek. 

    When should I come for this trek?  

    The best seasons for the Chisapani Nagarkot walking tour are autumn (from September to November) and spring (from mid-March to mid-May). During these seasons, the weather will be warm and clear with spectacular views. If you want to avoid the rush time and crowds then winter (December to February) will be an ideal time to go on this trek. Monsoon season (June to Aug) makes everything unclear and slippery.  

    How much luggage can I take during the Chisapani Nagarkot (valley rim trek)?

    Since the trek is quite easy and short, it is not necessary to bring a lot of things for this trek and since the lodges during the trek provide cozy beds with warm enough blankets, it is not necessary to bring a sleeping bag. The weight limit for your hiking pack is 10 kg per trekker, if you are two trekkers there will be one porter from our company and our porter will carry both of your luggage that should be 20kg max. You can carry your daypack on your own, which should be around 5 kg. On your daypack please only carry what are essentials for the hike such as a camera, water bottles, and other valuable belongings. You can leave your unnecessary stuff either at your hotel in Kathmandu or at the Alpine Eco Trek store for free and it will be completely safe. Our leader will recheck everything (Luggage, equipment, etc.) in our briefing time one day before the trip departure.

    Do you have a packing list for the Chisapani Nagarkot trek?

    Chisapani Nagarkot hiking trip is a short and easy trek in Nepal, also the nearest destination from the capital city of Kathmandu valley so that you do not need to bring any special gear from home for this trek. You can buy or rent most of the hiking gear in Kathmandu at a reasonable price. We at Alpine Eco Trek recommend you to arrange a pair of walking shoes (sports will be fine), trousers, socks, one warm jacket, t-shirts and a long-sleeved shirt, Sunscreen, small backpack, torch (flashlight), Camera, memory card and battery charger( spare batteries) and one quick-drying towel. 

    What are extra personal expenses on the trek?

    For lunch, dinner, drinks, and shopping in Kathmandu and snacks, hot and cold drinks and tipping your guide and porter during the Chisapani Nagarkot - Kathmandu valley rim trekking tour it would be wise to bring some extra money (in local currency) which you can exchange in Kathmandu.  

    Do I need Insurance for the Chisapani Nagarkot (Kathmandu valley rim trekking)?

    Since the trek is short and sweet and has easy road access, it is not mandatory to have travel insurance for this trek but travelling is an investment and we believe that insurance makes your investment secure. And, It is also a condition of joining any of our treks that be protected against comprehensive expenses potential to incur due to medical issues, loss of your things or accidents (to include helicopter rescue, air ambulance, and treatment costs). Please be noted that we do not arrange or sell insurance.

    Also, a relaxed trip is not possible without good travel insurance. In the event of any sickness or injury, the cost of emergency treatment and evacuation is shocking. Therefore, travel insurance is recommended for everyone who signs up for any trips with us.
