An epic journey from Beijing Lhasa Kathmandu tour offers a magic blend of high adventure and exotic culture.

An exploration of the ancient palaces, monasteries and temples, a ride on the world's highest train, a journey to the top of the world, the Everest Base camp, Beijing Lhasa Kathmandu tour offers you an experience of a lifetime. This tour takes you on a whirlwind tour to three oriental cities: Beijing, Lhasa and Kathmandu. Exploring these three cities will give you an insight into three ancient cultures, Chinese, Tibetan and Nepalese. But the major highlight of this trip is the journey aboard the Qinghai-Tibet railway, the world's highest railway. Another highlight of this trip is the hike to the Everest Base Camp.

Beijing Lhasa Kathmandu tour starts in Beijing, a city in Northern China. Beijing, an ancient capital and a bustling modern metropolis is a city of amazing contrasts. In Beijing some incredible historical sites awaits you. On a guided tour, you can explore the Forbidden City, the Tiananmen Square, the Great Wall of China and the Temple of Heaven.

Leaving Beijing you embark on a train journey to Lhasa, aboard the world's highest railway, the Qinghai-Tibet railway. As the train trundles along the high Tibetan plateau, picturesque scenes of Tibetan countryside whiz by. Owing to Tibet's high altitude the train has been equipped with oxygen-supplying equipments. Oxygen masks are available for those who are prone to altitude sickness.

In the historical city of Lhasa, you will be taken on a guided tour to all the city's major attractions: Potala palace, Sera monastery, Derpung monastery, Norbulinkha palace, etc. . . . Excursions to important Tibetan cities of Shigatse, Gyantse and Shegar are also included in your itinerary. On reaching Rongbuk monastery, you get to view the world's highest mountain Mount Everest. As you leave Zhangmu and cross the Friendship Bridge you enter Nepal. There is a refreshing change in scenery, as verdant greenery replaces the dry and arid Tibetan landscapes. In Kathmandu you will get to explore the three medieval cities: Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur.

Acclimatization

Keep in mind that you are traveling overland to highest plateau in the world; the drive goes constantly above 5000m during your journey except Lhasa (3,650m). Driving fast in such an elevation could cause medical conditions (Acute Mountain Sickness) which could be fatal. There is 50% less oxygen compared to sea level in high-altitudes places like in Tibet. The higher the altitude the less is the oxygen in air. Your body needs few days to acclimatize to this less oxygen environment. Although we provide enough information regarding AMS precaution matters, if you get AMS, we do not have other options to treat it other than medication. We advise specially the guest(s) with known heart or lungs or blood diseases to consult their doctor before traveling. Mild headaches, fever, loss of appetite or stomach disorder are symptoms of AMS.

Guide and Staffs arrangements

Throughout your time in Tibet you will be accompanied by an experienced English speaking Tibetan guide who will not only act as an interpreter but will also provide valuable insights into the Tibetan way of life. All our Tibet trips are run in cooperation with our Tibetan counterpart, so you can be assured that authentic local touch.

Time in Tibet

08 hours ahead of GMT. Note Tibet is linked to Beijing time so when you cross the border to Nepal the time change is considerable. Nepal is 5 hours and 45 minutes ahead of GMT.
