We begin 3 days Poon hill trek after a two-hour drive through knobby roads to Nayapul from Pokhara. We begin walking to Ulleri via Tikhedhunga village. The very next day from Ulleri, we continue trekking through the rhododendron forests to Ghorepani village, which is the highlight of our trip as we get there by walking through pretty tough uphill and downhill trails, via streams, jungles, and farming lands. Poon Hill Trek Distance
Trek to Poon Hill: being a tea house-based trekking, every next village provides decent guesthouses and mountain lodges. The total distance of the Trek is about 45KM (about 28 miles, Nayapul Poon Hill Nayapul) round trips. A 2-hour drive from Pokhara to Nayapul on a private car or van (depending on group size) with our guide and porters, hike from Nayapul to Birethanti check post, continue to Tikhedunga and to Ulleri Village, first night at a guest house in Ulleri village. The next day to Ghorepani village, the second night in this village at a good guesthouse. Day third, early morning hike to Poon Hill, after sunrise back to the guesthouse, and trek back to Pokhara.

Best seasons (months) for Poon Hill Hiking
The best seasons for the Poon Hill trek 3 days are autumn (from September to November) and spring (from mid-March to mid-May). During these seasons, the weather will be warm and clear with spectacular views. If you want to avoid the rush time and crowds then winter (December to February) will be an ideal time to go on this trek. Monsoon season (June to Aug) makes everything unclear and slippery.

Accommodations during the 3 days Poon Hill trek, we arrange the best available lodges/guesthouses on full board (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) in each village. On the first day of our hike, we stay in a beautiful village called Ulleri. This village has a wide range of lodges and guesthouses featuring the fantastic facilities of rooms with comfortable beds, neat and clean bedsheets, and warm blankets with attached bathrooms and Internet Wi-Fi. The lodge’s restaurant serves authentic and organic meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) from their menu. On the day second, we will hike from Ulleri to Ghorepani village. In Ghorepani village, there are many nice luxury lodges and guesthouses available. We arrange one of the best lodges on the full board in this village. On the day third, we will hike from Ghorepani to Poon Hill and then trek down to Nayapul where we conclude the hike with two hours drive to Pokhara.
Food and Drink on 3 days Poon Hill Trekking
Food and drinking water during the 3 days Poon Hill trek, our hiking package includes meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) and lodge accommodations. Meals during the hike will be mostly authentic Nepalese dishes like rice, curry, lentil, vegetables, spicy free pickles, curd, plain chapatti and etc. Other cuisines like continental, Tibetan, and Indian are also available. These meals will be served as per the menu of the lodge. Besides that, you can buy bars, bread, cookies, and hot chocolates, extra on the trail on your own.
Drinking water during the trek can be easily found everywhere, every next hour you can buy pure and safe drinking water from the local teashops and guesthouses. Also, you can get hot water from the lodge and fill in your bottle every time it gets empty. So, do carry a reusable water bottle with you. We at alpine eco trek would request you not to buy mineral water bottles (plastic) on the way as it will help in preserving the nature of this beautiful region. Moreover, you can also carry water purifier tablets or SteriPen with you to purify the water.
Options to get Pokhara from Kathmandu
Normally, there are three options to get Pokhara from Kathmandu:
A Tourist Bus Travel:
A tourist bus from Soorkhute (a 2-minute walk from Thamel) at 7:00 am every day from Kathmandu to Pokhara would be the first option. It is a 200 km drive from Kathmandu and takes 6 hours to reach Pokhara. The cost of a tourist bus ranges from USD 8 to USD 25. Normal tourist buses with Wi-Fi and insurance coverage facilities with comfortable 2x2 folding seats, for a capacity of 30 people will cost you USD 8 per person and super deluxe buses with air conditioning and very comfortable seats with wifi, buffet lunch, and insurance coverage will cost you around USD 25 per person. You can choose any of the above buses as per your budget and comfort requirements.
A Private Vehicle:
Another option to reach Pokhara from Kathmandu would be by private vehicles, which cost you USD 100 for a Car (maximum 4 people capacity), USD 150 for a Jeep (max 7 people capacity), and USD 200 for a van/Toyota Hiace (max 13 person capacity) with luggage storage. You can choose the vehicle type based on the size of your group. If you take a private vehicle, it will be a more flexible and enjoyable journey.
By flight:
The third option to reach Pokhara from Kathmandu would be by flight, there are several daily flights from Kathmandu to Pokhara. One of the best, fast, and most convenient ways to get to Pokhara is by taking a flight to reach there. It takes 25 minutes from Kathmandu and a flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara costs USD 120 per person.
