12 Days Everest Base Camp Trek Itinerary

Day 01: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2,880m), 35 minutes flight and 4 hrs walking.

Day 02: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,445m), 5 to 6 hrs walking.

Day 03: A day for rest at Namche Bazaar (3,445m), hike to Everest view hotel.

Day 04: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,860m), 5 to 6 hrs walking.

Day 05: Trek from Tengboche to Dingboche (4,260m), 5 to 6 hrs walking.

Day 06: Trek from Dingboche to Lobuche (4,900m), 6 to 7 hrs walking.

Day 07: Trek from Lobuche to Everest Base Camp (5,364m) via Gorakshep (5,150m), 7 to 8 hrs walk.

Day 08: Trek from Gorakshep to Kala Patthar (5,545m) and then to Pheriche (4,243m), 6 hrs walk.

Day 09: Trek from Pheriche to Tengboche (3,860m), 5 to 6 hrs walking.

Day 10: Trek from Tengboche to Namche Bazaar (3,444m), 5 to 6 hrs walking.

Day 11: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2,880m), 6 to 7 hrs walking.

Day 12: Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu takes 35 minutes.

  • Day 01 Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2,880 m) | 35 minutes flight | 4 hrs walking:

    After breakfast, the journey begins with a half an hour scenic flight to Lukla and trek to Phakding (2,640 m), which takes approximately four hours to complete. Our trek is followed by a gentle climb up the mountainside on the left bank of the Dudh Koshi River. From here, Mt. Nupla (5,885 m) can be seen in a far distance on the opposite bank atop the Kongde Ridge. We descend towards a mountainside path that merges into our route to Everest with views to a valley to our right; and at its far end lies Mt. Kusum Kang (6367 m). Stay overnight at lodge.

  • Day 02 Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,445 m) | 5 to 6 hrs walking:

    The six hours walk from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,445 m) is surrounded by mountains ranges on all three sides and opens out only where it faces the Bhote Koshi River. Stay overnight at lodge.

  • Day 03 A day for rest at Namche Bazaar (3,445 m) | Hike to Everest View Hotel:

    Rest day for acclimatizing. Namche Bazaar is an ideal place to spend a day for acclimatization to the high altitude before heading off towards Tyangboche. We recommend you to stay active on your rest days as well so we walk up to Khhumjung where we can visit a monastery and enjoy the splendid views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Thamserku, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Tawche, Mt. Kwangde and so on. We can also take hours walk up to Syangboche (3800 m) where Everest View Hotel is situated above Namche for an outstanding view of the mountain vistas. Stay overnight at lodge.

  • Day 04 Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,860m), 5 to 6 hrs walking:

    We spend approximately five hours walking today. As we climb through the forested zone, the incline eases and a splendid view of the incredible Himalayas appears right in front of us. We continue climbing the mountainside diagonally until we come to the stone gate built by lamas which mark our entry into Tengboche (3,860 m). Stay overnight at lodge.

  • Day 05 Trek from Tengboche to Dingboche (4.260 m) | 5 to 6 hrs walking:

    Today’s climb involves approximately five hours walk to Dingboche. Dingboche is a beautiful patchwork of fields enclosed by stone walls protecting the crops of barley, buckwheat, and potatoes from the cold winds and grazing animals. Stay overnight at lodge.

  • Day 06 Trek from Dingboche to Lobuche (4,900 m) | 6 to 7 hrs walking:

    We spend approximately six hours walking to Lobuche. The onward journey leads north for up to 50 minutes until we come to a mani-prayer stupa and then we take a downward path to Pheriche village. Today's walk offers views of Mt. Tawache, Mt. Ama Dablam and to the north- Mt. Pokalde (5,741 m), Mt. Kongma-tse (5,820 m) and the great wall of Mt. Nuptse. After a two hours walk, the trail from Pheriche joins near Dugla. We stop at Dugla for lunch before continuing for an hour up to a steep hill to the top where there are views of Mt. Pumori and other peaks west of Everest. After a short break, we continue (1 to 2 hours) of trekking up to Lobuche, hidden and sheltered from the wind. Overnight at lodge.

  • Day 07 Trek from Lobuche to Everest Base Camp (5,364 m) via Gorakshep (5,150 m) | 7 to 8 hrs walk:

    Today’s trek involves approximately seven hours of walk. The trail treks up the valley following a rocky moraine path, icy glacial ponds, and icebergs down below the Khumbu glacier. Gorakshep is the location of the original Everest Base Camp with the new camp being further up the valley. From here, the trail winds through a rocky path and the Khumbu glacier. The views of Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lho-La and Mt. Khumbutse appears in front of us. Stay overnight at lodge.

  • Day 08 Trek from Gorakshep to Kala Patthar (5,545 m) and then to Pheriche (4,243 m) | 6 hrs walk:

    Approximately six hours walking. We accomplish an early morning climb to Kala Patthar (5,545 m) and enjoy the spectacular sunrise. Kala Patthar offers a panoramic view of Mt. Everest and many other mountain peaks like Mt. Pumori, Mt. Lingtren, Mt. Khumbetse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Thamserku and others. We also get an up close and personal view of some of the yaks in the area which are normally used as four-legged porters in this region. Stay overnight at lodge.

  • Day 09 Trek from Pheriche to Tengboche (3,860 m) | 5 to 6 hrs walking:

    Tengboche is a small village with a famous monastery offering splendid views of Ama Dablam, lush green hills and river views. Stay overnight at lodge.

  • Day 10 Trek from Tengboche to Namche Bazaar (3,444 m) | 5 to 6 hrs walking:

    We descend for approximately five hours walking today. The walk from Tengboche is mostly downhill on the main busy trail with a few steep climbs for an hour from the bridge at Phungitenga, near to Sanasa. The walk to Namche is very scenic on a long winding path. En route we get an opportunity visit the traditional villages of Khumjung and Khunde. From Khumjung village, another 30-minute walk brings us to the village of Khunde. Stay overnight at lodge.

  • Day 11 Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2,880 m) | 6 to 7 hrs walking:

    Approximately six hours walking. The last day of our trek leads us from Namche Bazaar via Monjo to Lukla. The trek is pleasant, except for few short uphill climbs and then down to the Bhote- Koshi River crossing it three times in a row. The last uphill climb of 45 minutes will bring us to Lukla for our overnight stay.

  • Day 12 Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu takes 35 minutes:

    After a heavy breakfast, we take an early morning flight back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival at an airport, we transfer to hotel. Rest of the time will be on your own. In the evening, you will be invited to join a farewell dinner at a typical Nepali restaurant with your guide and team enjoying the drink and meal hosts by Ram Kumar. End the Journey!
