Everest Base Camp Trek 12 days

Duration: 12 Days   |   Based on 2 Reviews Trip MapPhotosDownload

12 days Everest Base Camp trek is one of the best trekking trips for a non-elite climber to witness the beauty of the world’s highest summit, Mt. Everest up close. The first-ever invaders of this trek, Tenzing Norgay and Sir Edmund Hillary in 1953 set a record for successfully climbing the summit and since then, climbing the Everest Base Camp has been an ultimate goal for the Mountaineers. The trip is designed in such a way that the trek needs basic physical fitness since it is challenging, however it is not exhausting. The itinerary includes enough acclimatization days to ensure better, smoother and more enjoyable trekking.

12 days EBC trekking tour begins with a thrilling and scenic flight to Lukla and the trail passes through the Everest National Park offering some of the most breathtaking views of the Khumbu region including Mount Everest (8848 m). The routes lead us towards the Phakding village which has a great ambience to spend a night in. En route we experience and explore the enchanting views of the overwhelmingly beautiful mountains making our way through an abundance of forests and wildlife including Musk Deer, Mountain goats also known as Himalayan Thar, wild yaks, snow leopard, etc. The trail takes us to Namche Bazaar via Everest National Park which has a wide range of flora and fauna. The National Park also offers an opportunity to watch different species of birds.

Namche Bazaar is one of the most happening places in the region and is preferred by many tourists for spending a night here and exploring the traditions and cultures of the Sherpa people. After a straight two days stay in Namche, we hike up to Tengboche, a very popular place known for its monastery passing through Dingboche, Lobuche and Gorakshep which has beautiful alpine villages which are worth visiting. We continue our way to Kala Patthar as it has better and clear visibility of the world-famous peak, Mt. Everest. As we reach our destination, the accomplishment of the trek feels like a lifetime achievement and the joy seems to be exploding through each of our veins.

The most favourable season to enjoy EBC hiking for 12 days is from March to May and October to December. This is a full tea house-based trekking and the highest elevation of the trek is 5,545 meters which is the Everest Base Camp itself.

Useful Information

If the group size is above 4 people we offer special prices on the 12 days Everest Base Camp trek cost, and for online booking, we have easy, fast, cheap and secure online payment platforms. No fee for cancellation, book now and if the above itinerary could not meet your requirements, we can design a tailor-made itinerary to suit your needs and requirements. It is also possible to combine with some other activities such as a Jungle safari in Nepal, hiking around the Kathmandu valley or a sightseeing tour of the ancient valley.

Flight delay in Kathmandu and Lukla

One of the most terrifying Airstrips in Nepal, Lukla Airport (also known as Tenzing-Hillary Airport), located on an enormous valley is bounded by high mountains. Due to this reason, the arrival and the taking off from Lukla are technical and difficult most of the time. The weather here is unpredictable and changes every next hour which causes flight delays or cancellations.

Small (16 seated) Twin Otter and Dornier planes are the only primary methods of transportation to Lukla from Kathmandu of the airway at Lukla. The service provided here is fairly dependable. However, if the flights get cancelled or delayed due to mountain weather conditions, we will help you to charter a helicopter and make sure that you are on schedule for your trip and international flight connections. The additional charges roughly required are USD2,400 to USD2,800 per helicopter (USD 4,50 to USD 2,800 for each individual) would be pertinent to you for the helicopter charter. The helicopter will be taking 4 to 5 trekkers at a time and the expense can be shared among the riders. The cost must be paid by a rider, which can later be submitted for reimbursement through the travel insurance company. We can assist you with important documents for a claim. Payment for the helicopter must be done by the rider before or during the ride.

Regarding payment, US dollars cash or Visas (Visa Cards, Master Cards, and American Express) are accepted for helicopter transport. Any card payment requires a 4 percent bank charge, which goes straightforwardly to the bank.

The helicopter will be able to fly if the visibility is 1500 meters or greater, whereas the Twin Otter and Dornier planes can fly if the visibility is 5000 meters or greater, according to Nepalese Civil Aviation rules. If a situation, in which the weather is extreme and the visibility is lesser than 1,500 meters arises, then the helicopters will also not be able to fly either. In such cases, we will reschedule your trip for the following day depending on the availability and condition of the weather. If this situation continues for a long time, then you will be provided with alternative trek options.

Important Note

The above information is just a guide and a standard pattern of what we provide. The trip can be tailored at your request to accommodate your specific requirements. On adventure trips of this type, weather, transport or a multitude of other factors are beyond our control and can result in a change of itinerary. It is, however, very unlikely that the itinerary would be substantially altered; if alterations are needed the person in charge will make a decision on what is the best alternative, taking into consideration the best interests of the whole group. If a change does arise, we do everything we can to reduce its effect, but we cannot be liable for the results of changes or delays.
